Hard case or gig bag?

While that is somewhat a matter of personal preference, there are a few factors to consider.





What you do plan to do with your bass? If you will be playing in a band and doing some traveling, then you need a hard case. If you are not going to take the bass out of your home, you can get by with a gig bag.





What do you expect from it? If you want to protect your bass, you should go with a hard case. If you only want to keep your bass from getting chips and dings, a gig bag will do.





The cost. There is quite a difference in cost between them. That will affect your choice. Also, how expensive was your bass? A Squier bass may not be worth the cost of a hard case. If you have an old Fender then you would not want to trust it in anything less than a hard case.
