hello ... ive just brought a sata media player , but need to buy a hard drive for it , ive saw a sata 2 hard drive . would i be able to use this .not sure if sata2 is compatible with sata ???Can you use a sata 2 hard disc drive in a sata media case?
Sata2 is just the speed of the drive, the interface is the same.

So yes, it will work. Can you use a sata 2 hard disc drive in a sata media case?
Yes it's not a problem, SATA II is backwards compatible with SATA (or SATA I).

I would go for a Western Digital hard drive because they are nice and quiet, the last thing you want in a media centre is a noisy drive.
Yes it is compatible

Its called backwards compatibility

So something new can work with something older.
